Homogenizer Equipment Working Principle

A homogenizer is a device used for mixing, emulsifying, and dispersing materials, and is widely used across various industrial sectors. 

I. Working Principle

The principle of a homogenizer is to apply mechanical forces (such as shear, impact, and cavitation) to materials, uniformly dispersing previously immiscible liquids (such as oil and water) or solid particles into a stable emulsion or suspension.

Shear: The narrow gap between the high-speed rotating rotor and stator creates intense shear and tearing of the material within, breaking down the droplet or particle structure.

Cavitation: High-speed flow creates localized low pressure, forming bubbles that burst instantly, releasing energy and further refining the material.

Agitation and Mixing: Combined with a stirring device, this allows the material to flow uniformly, ensuring uniformity.

II. Main Functions

1. Emulsification: Mixes the oil and water phases to form a stable emulsion (such as an oil-in-water or water-in-oil system).

2. Dispersion: Evenly disperses solid particles into the liquid to prevent settling or agglomeration. 

3. Homogenization: Refines material particles or droplets, reducing particle size and improving product stability and fineness.

4. Mixing: Rapidly mixes multiple ingredients to ensure uniform composition.

III. Application Areas

Cosmetics: Produces creams, lotions, and serums to ensure uniform dispersion and a smooth texture.

Food: Produces jams, ice cream, and dairy products to improve taste and stability.

Pharmaceutical: Prepares ointments, injections, and oral liquids to ensure uniform and easily absorbed drug ingredients.

Chemical: Produces coatings, inks, and adhesives to improve product dispersion and performance.

Biomedicine: Experiments and production processes such as cell disruption and nanomaterial preparation.

Through these functions, homogenizers significantly improve product quality, stability, and functionality, making them key equipment in the precision processing industry.
